What is a Walk-A-Thon? 

 

A Walk-A-Thon is a fundraiser in which participants raise money by collecting donations for walking a predetermined distance or course.  Our Walk-A-Thon is all about the students – setting a goal, working toward that goal, and feeling proud as they achieve their goal. This event builds community, encourages exercise and allows our children to make a visible contribution to their school. 

 

On the day of the Walk-A-Thon, the PTO has planned a variety of activities for everyone to enjoy!  There will be live music, moonbounce, face-painting, exercise lessons, free healthy snacks and drinks, and so much more!  

 

Why do we need to raise money for MWS?

 
The MWS PTO provides numerous opportunities for our children that would not otherwise be funded by the city budgets. Without your support, MWS would not be able to offer so many great enrichment programs for the students.  Proceeds will help fund school programs in technology, science, music, art, and as well as field trips, classroom materials for teachers, and books for the library. 

 

How do we raise money for the Walkathon? 

MWS students will raise money for the school by collecting donations in advance from neighbors, family, friends and so on by pledging to walk/run a certain amount of laps or minutes.  To raise our $10,000 goal, we need everyone to ask for donations and participate in the Walk-A-Thon.  While that’s a big number, we are confident we can do it if everyone works hard.  We even accept online donations!  Click Here to Donate Online!

 

Every dollar counts, so please give what you can. The PTO is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, so all donations are tax deductible.

Can my family & friends walk with me? 

Yes, but they must register and pay a fee.  They may pay in advance or at the registration table on the day of the event.  They will receive a lap card and a MWS Walk-A-Thon T-Shirt.  They are not eligible to win any prizes.  Only MWS students will be eligible to win prizes.  *Please note, Walk-A-Thon donations made to MWS students do not count towards the registration fee to participate in the Walk-A-Thon. 

 

Registration Fees

Children (Ages 5 - 10) - $5

Children (Ages 11-17) - $10

Adults (18 and older) - $20 

 

Walkers without a lap card will be asked to leave the track.
